The Printing House: Our 2017 Year in Review

Happy New Year! We can hardly believe 2017 has come to a close – it was an exciting year for us, full of new technology, initiatives and partnerships. The start of a new year marks change, growth, and provides an opportunity to reflect back on the progress made in the previous year. We worked on so many amazing projects in 2017, thanks to our wonderful customers and partners. Thank you for letting us help you bring your ideas to life! We can’t wait to see what 2018 holds.

Here’s a quick recap of what we got up to in 2017:

We celebrated Canada’s 150th birthday with a cross-country road trip

Our Canada 150 Road Trip kicked off last July as a way to give back to our customers and celebrate the Great White North! The six-month long campaign featured a different Canadian region each month, showcasing the awesome TPH staff and local communities that make our country special. Customers across the country were offered a chance to win a $250 Flight Centre gift card in each region we stopped in. We also sent a fabric flag on a tour of each of our branches, giving each TPH employee the chance to sign their name and leave their mark on a piece of Canadian history.

We were named Canada’s most sustainable printer for the second year in a row!

As a result of our environmental initiatives, we were honoured to be ranked Canada’s #1 most sustainable and forest friendly printer (#2 in North America) for a second time in Canopy’s Blueline Ranking. The Blueline Ranking rates major printers on a set of 32 key sustainability criteria and highlights sector leaders for consumer brands. We have achieved our ranking by working to reduce our use of papers that contain ancient and endangered forest fibre, working to advancing forest conservation solutions, supporting the development of new environmental papers, and bringing a high degree of transparency to our sustainability initiatives.

We added custom fabric printing and décor to our service roster

We’re always looking for ways to innovate and to offer more great products and services to our customers. We were excited to expand our fabric printing capabilities in 2017, offering a versatile, high-end solution for everything from large format backdrops to fabric flags. Printing for décor applications was also a focus, allowing complete customization for spaces such as offices, restaurants and storefronts. Looking for eye-catching wall decals, floors graphics or canvas prints? We’ve got you covered!

We went tree planting with our friends at Forest Farmer

If you aren’t already familiar, we’re proud to plant a tree for every new account opened with our company. We do this with the help of our partner, Forest Farmer, who plant trees in conservation areas across the country in support of Canadian forest restoration. While they typically leave the handiwork to the professionals, they like to invite employees from the companies they partner with to spend a day planting trees. A few members of our Head Office team headed to the Smith Ness Conservation area in Niagara, where they helped plant saplings and had the opportunity to see the difference first hand.

We sponsored and participated in events across the country!

We love getting involved with different events and causes in the communities in which we operate from coast to coast. We were happy to return as a sponsor for many of the events we’ve participated in previously, including the WWF-Canada CN Tower Climb for Nature, and the CBCF Run for the Cure. We were also excited to join in many new events and partnerships, including the 2017 Invictus Games held in Toronto.

We’re eager to help you get started on your projects for 2018! Contact your local TPH Manager to chat about your ideas for the new year.
